Seminar on Legislative Theater, 7.01

Seminar on Legislative Theater, 7.01

Date: Wednesday, the 7th of January, 2026 at 3:00pm CET

Legislative Theater sets the stage for groups needing to strengthen their visibility and voice in politics and policies. It involves members of those groups in preparing and performing stories that represent them and their struggles for an equal place in society and opportunities in life. The performance is a moment when they receive attention from decision-makers sitting in the audience.
We invite you to join us for an online seminar dedicated to exploring how Legislative Theater can empower underrepresented groups by amplifying their voices in political contexts. Our guests will present the concept and method, discuss its applications, and share direct experiences as practitioners and scholars. Participate in this seminar to understand the potential of Legislative Theater for inclusion and to discuss its relevance compared to other civic participation approaches.

The panelists include:

  • Dena Arya, University of Birmingham, United Kingdom
  • Bartłomiej Bodziński-Guzik, Jagiellonian University, Legislative Theatre Center, Poland
  • Roberto Falanga, Institute of Social Sciences, University of Lisbon, Portugal
  • Katy Rubin, The People Act: Legislative Theatre, United Kingdom

The seminar is hosted by the Center for Deliberation at the Faculty of Sociology, University of Warsaw.

Our interest in organising it was sparked at the INSPIRE project meeting and was motivated by the need to learn from first-hand experience and to facilitate learning.

To participate in the seminar, please register by filling in the form. We will send you a link to the Zoomseminar place and a reminder a day before the event.

The meeting will be recorded. You can choose to keep your camera/microphone off and ask questions via chat if you prefer not to be visible/heard.
